Week of September 28–October 4, 2026 The 30-year fixed jumped to 7.28% on Freddie Mac's survey, 20.8% of U.S. listings had a price cut in September, and Indianapolis-area active listings are up 19.9% from a year ago.
  • Rates: 7.28%, and it keeps moving against buyers
  • Price cuts hit their highest September share since 2018
  • Prices are still rising, just slowly

Week of September 21–27, 2026 The 30-year fixed crossed 7% on Freddie Mac's survey for the first time since January 2025, builders are cutting prices, and Central Indiana single-family permits rose 7% in August.

  • Rates: 6.95% on the weekly survey, and the daily trackers are already past 7%
  • Buyers kept signing contracts anyway
